Phong Le Sells Strategy Stock, Buys MSTR Shares
Phong Le, the president and CEO of Strategy, recently made significant moves in the company’s stock market activities. According to a recent SEC filing, Le sold 3,299 shares of the company’s Class A common stock, generating over $456,000 in proceeds. Additionally, he acquired 7,320 MSTR shares through the exercise of restricted stock units.
Strategy’s stock performance saw some fluctuations, with a 2% increase on Wednesday, closing at $139. However, it slipped 2% at market opening on Thursday and has experienced an 8% decline since the beginning of the year, as reported by Yahoo Finance.
As a dominant player in the Bitcoin market, the Virginia-based software company currently holds 762,099 BTC, valued at approximately $53 billion. Strategy is on track to surpass BlackRock in terms of Bitcoin holdings.
Le’s Compensation and Recent Stock Activities
Le’s total compensation is largely performance-linked, with 93.6% tied to the company’s stock price and Bitcoin’s price. The recently sold shares likely originated as vested restricted stock units. In a related move, Le purchased around 2,500 shares of Strategy’s perpetual preferred stock, STRC, for approximately $250,000.
The sale of common equity alongside the purchase of a related security indicates portfolio rebalancing rather than a lack of confidence in the company.
Strategy’s Plans for Bitcoin Accumulation
Strategy is planning to ramp up its Bitcoin accumulation strategy by implementing massive at-the-market programs. These programs are expected to raise over $44 billion through stock and preferred equity sales. The proceeds will be used to support corporate operations and further digital asset purchases, with the goal of owning one million Bitcoins by the end of the year.
