Crypto.com CEO Launches AI Platform with $70 Million Acquisition of ai.com Domain
Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek is making a significant shift towards the artificial intelligence sector by introducing a platform for personalized AI agents. The company recently acquired the “ai.com” domain for $70 million to support this initiative, which will be unveiled during a Super Bowl LX commercial on February 8.
This move marks a strategic pivot for Marszalek, who previously made headlines for spending $700 million on naming rights for the Los Angeles arena. The new platform represents a high-stakes commitment to the convergence of blockchain technology and generative AI.
The platform allows retail users to deploy AI tools called “agentic” agents in under 60 seconds without requiring technical coding knowledge. These agents can perform autonomous tasks such as organizing workflows, sending messages, and managing cross-application projects.
While the interface targets mainstream consumers, Marszalek envisions a long-term decentralized network where billions of agents self-improve and share capabilities.
“Ai.com is on a mission to accelerate the arrival of AGI by building a decentralized network of autonomous, self-improving AI agents that perform real-world tasks for the good of humanity,” Marszalek stated.
The platform’s structure aligns with the distributed ethos of the cryptocurrency industry, with agents operating in a secure environment where data is encrypted with user-specific keys to protect personal information.
Crypto executives are exploring new growth narratives as the digital asset market matures. Marszalek’s bet on mainstream interest in automated personal assistants is evident in the Super Bowl launch.
Future updates will integrate financial services and introduce an agent marketplace, indicating a hybrid business model with subscription tiers and transaction-based economics.
Despite its potential, the platform faces fierce competition from well-capitalized incumbents like OpenAI and Google, as well as the challenge of gaining user trust with personal data in a crypto-native environment.
